Aguilar Backed By Large Majority Of Delegates In Bid for California Democratic Party Endorsement
(San Bernardino, CA) – On Saturday, Pete Aguilar received the support of 67 percent of the 31st district delegates to the California Democratic Party, bringing him one step closer to receiving the party’s endorsement next month.
Aguilar, Mayor of Redlands and a candidate for Congress in the 31st district, received 37 votes (67%). Eloise Gomez Reyes received 9 votes (16%) and Joe Baca was supported by 7 delegates (13%). Two delegates (4%) voted “No Endorsement.” Danny Tillman did not seek the Democratic Party’s endorsement.
"I’m very grateful that a majority of local Democratic Party delegates are supporting my campaign for Congress,” Aguilar said in reaction to Saturday’s vote.
By garnering more than 50% of the vote, Aguilar advanced the endorsement process to a second round of voting, scheduled to take place on March 8 at the Party’s Convention in Los Angeles. The endorsement will go to the candidate who receives at least 60 percent of the vote at the convention.
Pete Aguilar is a small business owner and Mayor of Redlands. He is a strong advocate for economic growth and fairness in the Inland Empire, a leader who has reached across party lines to serve the best interests of middle-class families.
